MLITSD-approved certification for northern York Region's expanding construction market. Train close to your job site, get certified fast.
Newmarket is the commercial and administrative hub of northern York Region, and its construction landscape reflects that role. The Davis Drive corridor has been designated as an intensification area, and the results are visible — mid-rise residential buildings, new medical and professional offices, and mixed-use developments are replacing the strip plazas and low-rise commercial buildings that once lined the street. Around the Mulock GO station, transit-oriented development is bringing higher-density housing and ground-floor retail to an area that was largely undeveloped farmland a decade ago. These projects need framers, formwork carpenters, glaziers, roofers, and mechanical trades — all of whom require a valid Working at Heights certificate under Ontario law.
The construction activity extends well beyond Newmarket's borders. To the north, East Gwillimbury is one of the fastest-growing municipalities in the province, with massive residential subdivision developments stretching across the former greenbelt edges. Bradford, just to the west, is experiencing a similar residential boom fuelled by the Highway 400 corridor and planned GO Transit expansion. To the south, Aurora continues to fill in with infill residential and commercial projects. Workers in this part of York Region often move between job sites across multiple municipalities in a single week — and every one of those sites requires proof of MLITSD-approved Working at Heights training under Regulation 297/13.
The Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development conducts inspections throughout York Region, and subdivision sites with large numbers of trades working simultaneously are frequent targets. An expired or missing WAH certificate means you get pulled off the job immediately, and fines can be issued to both the worker and the constructor. With the volume of building happening across northern York Region, there is simply no reason to let your certification lapse.

We arrive with all harnesses, lanyards, and course materials, and your crew trains in the same environment they work in daily. Call 647-830-5557 →Yes. Ontario Regulation 297/13 applies to all construction projects in Ontario, including residential builds. If you are a framer, roofer, siding installer, or any trade that may use fall protection on a construction site, you must hold a valid MLITSD-approved Working at Heights certificate. This applies equally to subdivision homes in East Gwillimbury and mid-rise buildings on Davis Drive.
Your Working at Heights certificate is valid for 3 years from the date you complete the course. Before it expires, you can renew by taking the shorter 3.5-hour refresher course. If it has already expired, you will need to take the full 6.5-hour certification program again.
